North-South divide in EU car registrations in the EU

There is a clear north-south divide in the registration of electric cars in the EU. Within the EU, Sweden, Denmark and Finland lead the way with electric shares of more than a third.
In contrast, the fewest new electric cars were registered in Croatia (2.6%) and Slovakia (2.9%). The European countries with the highest proportion of electric registrations remain the non-EU countries Norway (81.2%) and Iceland (52.8%).
In Germany, too, slightly more pure electric cars were registered last year than the European Union average. The proportion of new registrations in Germany was 18.4 percent compared to the EU average of 14.6 percent, as reported by the German Federal Statistical Office on Tuesday. This means that the share in Germany was 0.6 percentage points higher than in the previous year.
In Switzerland, "electric cars" had a market share of 21.5 percent of new cars in August.
