Pilatus takes over employees from Ruag Aerostructures

The dissolution of Ruag International continues. The next step for aircraft manufacturer Pilatus is to gradually take over all 230 employees and the machinery of Ruag Aerostructures Switzerland in Emmen from the second quarter of 2024. Pilatus intends to manufacture its own components there in future.
The takeover is part of Ruag International's strategic objectives as set out by the Federal Council, the companies announced on Monday. According to these, Ruag International is to focus solely on the space business around Beyond Gravity in future.
Ruag International had already sold its Aerostructures unit in Germany and Hungary to the German family-owned company Mubea at the beginning of the year. At the end of 2023, Ruag also sold part of its site in Stans and Ennetbürgen to Pilatus as part of a strategic partnership.
Pilatus wants to expand production
The aircraft manufacturer, in turn, intends to expand its own production capacities and expertise with the takeover. The companies did not disclose financial details of the deal. No job cuts are planned, a Pilatus spokesperson told the news agency AWP.
Ruag Aerostructures and Pilatus have been working together for many years. Ruag has been manufacturing parts and components for the aircraft manufacturer since the 1990s.
Further expansion planned
Pilatus is also reportedly planning to rent a large area of land at Emmen airfield from Ruag Real Estate. In future, only the company's own parts and components required for aircraft production in Stans will be manufactured here. Orders from Ruag Aerostructures' existing third-party customers will be continued "for a limited period", according to the statement.
Pilatus will also have the opportunity to take over an adjacent building plot. In the medium to long term, further jobs will also be created here.
