Police identify seriously injured woman in St. Gallen

The St. Gallen cantonal police have identified the woman who was seriously injured after an act of violence in St. Gallen. She is a 34-year-old Italian woman. She was found in an apartment on Wednesday evening together with a 36-year-old man who was also seriously injured.

In recent years, the St.Gallen city police have had to call out to the two people several times due to mutual assaults and damage to property, the cantonal police wrote in a statement. On Thursday, they described the woman's state of health as critical and the man's as stable.

The exact course of events remains unclear. This is being investigated and clarified under the direction of the public prosecutor's office. The cantonal police do not believe that anyone else was involved in the crime.

The Italian woman currently has no permanent residence in Switzerland. According to the police, however, she has repeatedly stayed in the city of St. Gallen.

Emergency operation in hospital

According to an earlier police report, a message was received at 6.30 p.m. on Wednesday that a woman in an apartment in an apartment building was in urgent need of help. The patrol that was deployed encountered a seriously injured woman and a seriously injured man.

The emergency services and emergency doctors took the two to hospital. They underwent emergency surgery there. The identity of the woman was not yet known on Wednesday evening.
