The Swiss election results have been interpreted by the Handelszeitung as a sign that the public is looking for pragmatic solutions to the country's issues, rather than ideological debates. The public's main concerns are rising health insurance premiums, social security, pensions, immigration, housing markets and foreign relations.
The Handelszeitung believes that the election result should not be interpreted as a lack of interest in climate change, as polls still show it to be a major concern for the majority. Instead, the message from the election is that the public wants real solutions to the country's issues. The Social Democrats should take this message to heart and focus on pragmatic solutions.
