Publicist Peter Studer dies at the age of 88

The well-known journalist and former editor-in-chief Peter Studer died on Saturday. He was 88 years old. According to the obituary, he passed away peacefully after a richly fulfilling life.

In the obituary sent to the industry portal persoenlich.com, his relatives listed Studer's "guiding currency": Curiosity, truthfulness, fairness and transparency. His alert mind and broad knowledge will be fondly remembered, they wrote.

Studer was editor-in-chief of the "Tages-Anzeiger" and journalistic director of Tamedia for many years, editor-in-chief of Swiss television, then president of the Swiss Press Council and for two years a member of the board of directors of the former news agency, now Keystone-SDA. The University of St. Gallen, where Studer taught media law, awarded him an honorary doctorate in 2005.
