The Matterhorn Gotthard Railway suspended rail services between Visp and Zermatt on Friday due to the storms in Valais. Due to the risk of flooding, trains on the R40, RE41 and RE42 lines have been canceled until further notice.
Replacement buses are running between Visp and Täsch, as announced by the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn on Platform X. There are no travel options to Zermatt, it said.
In Zermatt, heavy storms have caused landslides and flooding. The Vispa burst its banks in the morning. The schools in the tourist village were closed, as a municipal employee told the Keystone-SDA news agency.
