Ramseier Suisse AG has finished processing the entire 2023 harvest and rates the quality of this year's fruit as good. However, the harvest volume was well below the multi-year average due to the weather.

The company announced on Tuesday that 38,145 tons of fruit were delivered to commercial cideries throughout Switzerland, 16,500 tons of which went to Ramseier. Compared to the last ten harvest years, 48 percent fewer cider apples and 76 percent fewer cider pears were processed.

The crop failures are reportedly due to the cold and wet spring, which prevented optimal pollination of the flowers. In addition, the fruit fell from the trees too early in the hot summer, while local storms further damaged the fruit in the fall.

Ramseier boss Christoph Richli nevertheless gives the all-clear: thanks to concentrate reserves from previous years, the availability of Swiss fruit juices is guaranteed until the next harvest, he was quoted as saying in the press release.
