Results of the Council of States Election in the Canton of AR

In the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden, no one was elected to the Council of States in the first round of voting. A second round of voting will take place on November 26th. The absolute majority required to be elected is 8,134 votes.
The canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden is one of the 26 cantons of Switzerland. It is located in the northeast of the country and is divided into two half-cantons, Appenzell Innerrhoden and Appenzell Ausserrhoden. The Council of States is the upper house of the Swiss Federal Assembly and is composed of 46 members, two from each canton.
In the first round of voting for the Council of States in Appenzell Ausserrhoden, no candidate was able to secure the absolute majority of 8,134 votes required to be elected. As a result, a second round of voting will take place on November 26th. The two candidates who received the most votes in the first round will compete in the second round. The candidate who receives the most votes in the second round will be elected to the Council of States.
