The pharmaceutical company Roche has signed a research collaboration with the University Hospital Zurich (USZ) and the University of Zurich (UZH). Together they want to use so-called Real World Data (RWD) from oncology patients.
Real-world data (RWD), such as data from structured electronic health records with information on cancer types, molecular profiles, treatments and outcomes, can provide important points for treatment decisions, according to a Roche press release.
However, according to the information provided, this data is rarely available in a scaled and structured form, which means that its potential is not fully exploited. The aim of the project is to find out how RWD can be processed in such a way that it ultimately improves patient care.
The public-private partnership between USZ, UZH and Roche is called the Precision Oncology Program (POP) and is being jointly developed and financed by the parties, according to the press release.
