Sandra Felix becomes the new head of the Federal Office of Sport

Sandra Felix is to become the new Director of the Federal Office of Sport. On Friday, the Federal Council appointed her as the successor to Matthias Remund, who will move to the International University Sports Federation at the beginning of 2025. Felix will take up the post on November 1, 2024.

57-year-old Sandra Felix is a business economist and currently Deputy Director of the Federal Office of Sport (Baspo). She has experience in management and executive positions in the construction and engineering industries as well as in public administration.

Felix worked in the Graubünden Department of Finance from 2005 and then spent six years as Secretary of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the Canton of Graubünden.

Felix moved to the Baspo in 2017. Since September 1, 2018, she has been head of the Sports Policy and Law division and also became Deputy Director of the Federal Office. She has been Deputy Director of Baspo since April 1, 2021.

The Department of Defense, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS), which is responsible for the appointment, wrote that Felix best meets the requirements profile due to her professional qualifications, achievements and experience.

Felix is familiar with the Swiss sports system. She is also very familiar with the cooperation with the organizations of sport organized under private law, the responsible offices in the federal administration, the cantons and other institutions.

Matthias Remund, the current Baspo Director, will become the new CEO and Secretary General of the International University Sports Federation in January. He has headed Baspo for almost two decades.
