Six cantonal sections of the Young SVP have distanced themselves from extremist groups. Ideologies of all political extremes have no place in the Young Party's understanding of values, the sections announced on Tuesday.

The JSVP stands for a policy that is based on the rule of law, democracy and the established party program. The signatories of the communiqué include the Säntis (Appenzell Ausserrhoden), Graubünden, Schaffhausen, Thurgau, Solothurn and Basel-Stadt sections. The young parties would consistently refrain from using terminology and distance themselves from any support or dissemination of such content on social networks.

Sarah Regez (BL) was also asked to suspend her position in the party leadership as head of strategy of the JSVP Switzerland for the time being, it was further reported. According to "Sonntagsblick" on March 31 of this year, Regez is said to have taken part in a secret meeting of the Austrian right-wing radical Martin Sellner, which was also attended by members of the far-right group "Junge Tat". The allegations made against them are to be clarified. According to the sections, a possible resignation or expulsion from the party leadership must be considered.

The authors of the letter also appeal to the new party president Nils Fiechter (BE) and the entire party leadership to clearly and unequivocally distance themselves from right-wing extremist movements. There was no official statement from the JSVP Switzerland at this time.

At an organized event of the "Junge Tat" in Tegerfelden AG, the right-wing extremist Sellner was stopped by the Aargau cantonal police and turned away. The Young SVP Aargau subsequently showed solidarity with the Austrian, which in turn led to criticism. Following the criticism, the Aargau section distanced itself from right-wing extremist positions.
