Siemens sees itself on the road to success in Switzerland. The German industrial group's companies in Switzerland achieved significantly higher sales last year.
Specifically, sales in the domestic market increased by 9 percent to 3.129 billion Swiss francs in the 2023/24 financial year (as at the end of September). This is the first time the 3 billion mark has been exceeded, Siemens Switzerland announced on Thursday.
Rail technology (Siemens Mobility) and medical technology (Siemens Healthineers) in particular reported a positive business performance. It is not known how profitable the business was, as the company does not disclose profit figures at country level. According to Siemens, the company employs 5976 people in Switzerland.
Siemens has had a presence in Zug for more than 25 years and coordinates global activities in the field of building technology and energy distribution (Smart Infrastructure division) from there. According to the press release, global sales in this area amounted to 21.4 billion euros, also 9 percent more than in the previous year.
Current challenges such as global warming, demographic change and urbanization call for energy-efficient and digital infrastructure, according to the statement. The division employs around 75,000 people worldwide.
Meanwhile, the Munich-based group as a whole increased its turnover by just one percent to 75.9 billion euros in 2023/24, as it also announced this morning. Meanwhile, profit rose significantly to 9 billion euros from 8.5 billion euros in the previous year thanks to a book profit.
