The woman who killed two of her three daughters in Gerlafingen SO at the beginning of 2021 should be sentenced to life imprisonment for multiple murders. This was requested by the prosecutor on Tuesday at the Bucheggberg-Wasseramt district court in Solothurn.

On the morning of January 16, 2021, the now 41-year-old Swiss woman killed her 7- and 8-year-old daughters in their beds with a targeted stab to the heart. In doing so, she had wanted to inflict "the greatest possible harm" on her then husband, said the public prosecutor.

The couple had separated a few months earlier. The man wanted a divorce. The woman had felt put down and was jealous.

Her eldest daughter, who was 12 years old at the time, had not attacked the woman. As she had a different father, her death would not have affected her husband to the same extent, said the prosecutor. In addition, this girl was much calmer than the younger ones and needed less care.

According to various witness statements, the woman had been frustrated with her life for some time. She had wished for a more fulfilling job than that of mother and housewife.

"Children as the object of frustration"

The accused had stated in her interrogation that her "project at the time" was her daughters. However, she had wished to continue a course of study that she had abandoned. "She made her two small children the object of her frustration," said the public prosecutor.

In her interrogation, the accused recounted her traumatic childhood in miserable conditions in South America. As a small child, she had sniffed glue on the street with other children to forget her hunger. She was later placed in an orphanage. At primary school age, she was adopted to Switzerland.

"Outpatient treatment"

The psychiatric expert had diagnosed the woman with borderline syndrome and histrionic disorder. This includes, among other things, a strong self-centeredness and a pronounced desire for attention. The expert recommended outpatient treatment during the prison sentence.

The representative of the surviving daughter and that of the now divorced husband demanded that the woman be sentenced in accordance with the indictment. The daughter was to be awarded compensation of 100,000 francs. In addition, the wife was to be declared liable for damages for future consequential costs. The husband's lawyer demanded damages and compensation of well over one million francs.

In the afternoon, the defense attorney has his say.
