SRG has taken note of the Federal Council's proposed measures "with concern". This is because a reduction in the SRG budget would inevitably have consequences for the program and the staff, according to the SRG.
According to information provided by SRG on Wednesday, the reduction in household levies from CHF 335 to CHF 300 would lead to a reduction in revenue of around CHF 160 million. Increasing the fee threshold for companies to CHF 1.2 million would reduce revenue by a further CHF 10 million. SRG would therefore have to make do with CHF 170 million less per year.
The consequences of this would be "unavoidable", writes SRG: in addition to job cuts, they would inevitably have negative consequences for the program, for example in the areas of regional information, sports productions, co-productions of Swiss films and music recordings as well as major popular events. SRG will therefore explain the consequences of the measures in the consultation process.
