Suspect Arrested in Schaffhausen After Fatal Offense

After the homicide in the Old Town of Schaffhausen on Saturday, the suspect is now in pre-trial detention. He was arrested shortly after the crime at the train station. The Schaffhausen Prosecutor's Office announced on Tuesday, in response to a request from the news agency Keystone-SDA, that the Coercive Measures Court had ordered pre-trial detention until January 1, 2024. No further details about the circumstances of the crime have yet been released. The police were dispatched to Safrangasse shortly after 5 a.m. following a corresponding report and found a severely and a lightly injured man on the ground. The severely injured man died on the spot. According to the public prosecutor's office, he was a Swiss born in 1998. The lightly injured man is a Swiss born in 1962. Shortly afterwards, the police discovered the also injured suspect, a Somali national born in 1999. He was arrested and the public prosecutor applied for an order for pre-trial detention.
