Three years after the takeover of the Spanish stock exchange by the Swiss exchange operator SIX, trading is still taking place on different systems. "No migration of the trading platforms has yet taken place," said Christian Reuss, Head of SIX Swiss Exchange, in an interview with the news agency AWP.
The project planned after the purchase was stopped. Consolidation turned out to be more complex than originally expected, particularly in terms of technological and legal issues, said Reuss. "This means that two platforms are still running in parallel at the moment."
In summer 2020, the Swiss stock exchange acquired Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME) for around 2.6 billion euros. Originally, it was said that the Spanish trading platform would be migrated to a version of the existing SIX platform.
