Swiss People Have Gotten Poorer Last Year

The average wealth of an adult in Switzerland in 2022 was 685,000 US dollars, a decrease of 13,500 dollars or 1.9% compared to the previous year. This decrease was mainly due to the financial market downturn, inflation and the effects of the Ukraine war. Despite this, Switzerland maintained its top spot in the global rankings. The median wealth in Switzerland was 167,000 US dollars, placing it sixth in the global rankings. Globally, private net wealth decreased by 2.4% to 454.4 trillion US dollars. This was mainly due to high inflation and the appreciation of the US dollar against many other currencies. If exchange rates had remained constant, global wealth would have increased by 3.4% and wealth per adult by 2.2%. However, taking into account inflation effects, real wealth decreased by 2.6%, meaning people could buy less with their money.nnnnnnnnnn
