“Swiss Political Strongholds: SVP and SP in the Jura”

On Sunday, the 112-village of Ederswiler, which is predominantly German-speaking, had the highest SVP voter share at 93.5%, according to an analysis by the news agency Keystone-SDA based on data from the Federal Statistical Office (BFS). Both the SP and the SVP strongholds are located in the canton of Jura. Located just 30 minutes away by car, Fontenais JU is a stronghold for the Social Democratic Party. On Sunday, 46.3 percent of the village's 1,674 inhabitants voted for the Social Democrats. The stronghold of the Greens is also not far away: in Schelten in the Bernese Jura. The village with only 37 inhabitants had a voter share for the Greens of 36.6 percent. On Sunday, the stronghold of the center was clear. In Gonten AI, 91.8 percent of voters chose the center. The Green Liberals were strongest in Vaux-sur-Morges VD, but even there they only achieved a voter share of 21.9 percent. ©Keystone/SDA
