Taylor Swift's concerts not only make the US pop singer herself rich, but also generate a lot of revenue for the consumer industry: As the British Barclays Bank has calculated, the megastar will bring in around one billion pounds (1.2 billion Swiss francs) for the UK economy with her upcoming performances.
In the other European stops on her "Eras" world tour, the hospitality industry, among others, can also look forward to additional income. Swift will be touring Europe until August. She performs in Zurich on July 9.
According to Barcylays, "Swifties" who travel to the UK for a concert spend an average of 848 pounds (almost 1,000 francs) on travel, accommodation, clothing and food, among other things. Anyone attending a Taylor Swift concert on the island will spend twelve times as much on the day of the spectacle as someone who has planned another evening activity, the bank calculated.
Swift is performing 15 concerts in the UK between June and August on her "Eras" world tour. According to Barclays, the advance ticket sales that started last July caused entertainment spending to soar by almost 16 percent year-on-year.
The average price for a concert ticket is 240 euros. VIP tickets for Swift's first European concerts in Paris last week sold for up to 1500 euros. The four dates in the French capital were attended by 180,000 fans.
