Ten people with Swiss passports are still waiting for an opportunity to leave the Gaza Strip. This was announced by Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis to the media in Bern on Wednesday.
The ten Swiss dual nationals were in the south of the Gaza Strip and wanted to leave via the Rafah border crossing, Cassis said in response to a question from journalists. He had spoken with the Egyptian foreign minister about the possibility of leaving the country.
The Egyptian side is examining how the departure can best be carried out, Cassis said. There are many dual nationals on the ground, he added. The number of ten Swiss citizens waiting had already been confirmed by the Department of Foreign Affairs eight days ago.
