The third test launch of the largest rocket system ever built has been postponed slightly. Boats still have to be removed from the restricted area in the Gulf of Mexico first, rocket operator SpaceX wrote on Thursday afternoon on X.
The start is now scheduled for 2.10 p.m. Swiss time, previously 1 p.m. had been planned. Further postponements were not initially ruled out.
The unmanned "Starship" is due to take off from the SpaceX spaceport in the US state of Texas. A test flight of around one hour is planned, after which the two rocket stages will make a controlled landing in the sea.
During a first test last April, the entire missile system exploded after just a few minutes. During a second test in November, the two rocket stages separated and the upper stage continued to fly for a while, but shortly afterwards both exploded separately.
