The 80th Olma Fair in St. Gallen has started.

The 80th Olma in St. Gallen was officially opened on Thursday morning in the presence of Federal Councillor Karin Keller-Sutter (FDP). In her speech, Keller-Sutter emphasised the contribution of agriculture to food security. She also referred to the federal finances, noting that leaner years were not the fault of the federal government, but rather due to too many expenses being approved without considering the financing. The Olma will run until 22 October, with Zurich as the guest canton. This year's event is a celebration of agriculture and food, and is a source of pride for the Eastern Switzerland region.
