In the canton of Aargau, the Swiss People's Party (SVP) has regained the seventh seat it lost in the National Council elections four years ago, according to SRG projections. The EVP must give up its only seat. All five other parties are expected to retain their mandates. The SVP has increased by 4.5%, according to a projection by GFS Bern on behalf of SRG. The SP, FDP and Mitte have all lost slight percentages of the vote. The Greens have lost 3.1%, while the small party EVP has lost 0.2%. The EVP National Councillor Lilian Studer was elected four years ago. According to the preliminary results, the incumbent FDP National Councillor Matthias Samuel Jauslin is in danger of not being re-elected. He is likely to be overtaken by Grossrat Adrian Schoop, who is politically active on the right wing of the FDP.
