The Kunstmuseum Wallis in Sitten, Switzerland has received an inheritance from the late Brigitte Mavromichalis (1926-2015), a discreet patron of the arts. The inheritance includes 45 works of art and 15 million Swiss francs. The museum has carefully examined the works of art and ensured that none of them come from any confiscations, particularly during World War II. The 45 works of art include pieces from artists such as Eugène Boudin, Serge Poliakoff, Félix Vallotton, Hans Erni and Wilfredo Lam. The 15 million Swiss francs will be used over a period of 30 years, with 500,000 francs being used annually from 2023. The money will be used to maintain the museum's collection, develop temporary exhibitions or publications, acquire additional works of art, and create awards and scholarships to strengthen the connection between the museum and the artists and to support the next generation of artists. Eight works from the inheritance are currently on display in the museum as part of the exhibition "Suite française. Legs de Brigitte Mavromichalis". The exhibition will be open until August 20th, 2023.nnnnnn
