The Swiss Army has been given the go-ahead to decommission 25 Leopard-2 tanks, provided they are sold back to the German manufacturer. This decision was approved by the National Council on Tuesday and has now been ratified by the Council of States. The tanks will be sold back to the manufacturer at a price that is yet to be determined. The money from the sale will be used to fund the purchase of new tanks for the Swiss Army. The decommissioned tanks will be replaced with new models that are more suitable for the Swiss Army's needs. The new tanks will be equipped with modern technology and will be more cost-effective to maintain. The decommissioned tanks will be recycled and used for spare parts. This move is part of the Swiss Army's ongoing effort to modernise its equipment and ensure that it is up to date with the latest technology.
