On Monday night, a fire broke out in the forest near Bitsch/Ried-Mörel VS and is still not under control. The situation is stable as long as the wind does not increase, according to a spokesperson from the municipality. If the wind increases, more forest areas could catch fire. Due to fog, visibility in the fire area is limited. Between 60 and 80 emergency personnel are still fighting the embers on the ground and from the air. It is still uncertain when the 50 people who were evacuated from the danger zone on Monday can return. It looks like part of the roadblock will be lifted soon, which will be decided by the Canton of Wallis in the afternoon.
