The SP-leaders Mattea Meyer and Cédric Wermuth reminded the delegates of the party's accomplishments on Saturday in Biel. At the same time, they called on the population to help bring about a "more social and just Switzerland" on October 22nd. In the fall, it will be decided whether "we can together prevent the impending shift to the right and thus an SVP Switzerland which downplays the climate crisis, fights against equality, makes politics for the rich and bows down to the top and kicks the bottom". Co-President Mattea Meyer said in her speech to the delegates. The right-wing majority in the Federal House regularly decides against the people, not only against those affected by poverty, "but against everyone who lives on wages and pensions". The Parliament is today the lobby of the powerful, who give themselves tax gifts and at the same time prevent minimum wages, a 13th AHV pension, premium reliefs and affordable daycare places. Still, 150,000 children in Switzerland live in poverty, and one in five households cannot afford a short-term expenditure of 2,500 francs. But these people are hardly worth mentioning to the bourgeois in Parliament. And that has to change. Therefore, the social Switzerland must win, "a Switzerland that expands climate protection, promotes equality, takes care that people have enough money and that we take care of each other". And for that, they will take care of it together in the next 57 days. The SP has made Switzerland livable for everyone in the past 175 years. Without the SP there would be no maternity or paternity leave, no AHV or it would already have been privatized, no compulsory health insurance and no affordable housing. There would be no daycare, no minimum wages, no regulated working hours or holidays, no women's suffrage and no public service. The SP has taken a stand for the people and demanded rights. The bourgeois elites wanted the people living on their wages to remain supplicants in Switzerland so that they would be paid decently, be able to age with dignity, no longer be discriminated against, receive protection at the border or fight for an intact environment. But the SP is the counter-model. The SP will not rest until it is fairer and more social in this country.nnnnnnnnnnnn
