The Ticino section of the SVP has spoken out against an increase in the retirement age and issued a "no vote" for the 13th AHV pension. This was confirmed by the president of the Ticino SVP, Piero Marchesi, at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency.
The Ticino SVP recognizes the problem of future pension financing, which will place a heavy burden on the middle classes. This was announced by the cantonal committee on Thursday. With regard to the 13th AHV pension in particular, it has been noted that the "draft is formulated very roughly".
It also pointed out that the costs of the proposal, amounting to five billion francs, would be difficult to finance. On the other hand, the party also laments the loss of purchasing power for older people, who are already burdened by rising health insurance premiums and other expenses.
The SVP of the canton of Vaud announced its voting slogan a week ago. In Vuarrens VD, the Vaud section narrowly voted against the initiative for a 13th AHV pension, which will be put to the vote on March 3. The Neuchâtel section also voted against the initiative. The SVP Geneva decided to support the initiative and the SVP Lower Valais abstained from voting.
The Federal Council and Parliament recommend a "no" to the initiative.
