The Kunsthaus Aargau is hosting the exhibition "Stranger in the Village", which reflects on the experiences of the African-American writer James Baldwin in Leukerbad in the 1950s. After three months of renovation, the Kunsthaus Aargau is reopening with the special exhibition "Stranger in the Village - Racism in the Mirror of James Baldwin" (3.9. to 7.1.). In his famous text "Stranger in the Village", Baldwin (1924-1987) processed his experiences in Switzerland in the 1950s. He spent some months in the Oberwalliser village of Leukerbad. Baldwin's words are still an inspiration for many artists today. The group exhibition explores themes of belonging and exclusion through contemporary works by artists from Switzerland and the international scene. There is also an opportunity for the public to engage creatively and explore the topic of racism in more depth. The opening night is open to the public, and admission to the Kunsthaus is free on Sunday 3rd September and every Thursday evening. As part of the renovation, the floor has been renewed, a modern, energy-saving lighting system has been installed and the main entrance has been redesigned to be barrier-free.nnnnnnnnnnnnnn
