The electorate rejected the BVG reform on September 22 due to doubts about its potential to solve the problem. The "no" to the biodiversity initiative resulted from the perceived low pressure of the problem. This is the result of the Vox analysis.

The central aim of the occupational pension reform - to improve the position of low-income earners - was controversial, as the research institute gfs.bern writes in its Vox analysis of the post-election survey published on Friday.

A majority did not find the proposal convincing. They did not want a reduction in BVG pensions, especially during inflation. The No vote came fairly unanimously from the left-wing camp, but almost two thirds of SVP and centrist sympathizers also voted against their own party's slogan.

The decisive factor in the No to the biodiversity initiative was that the initiators were unable to exert sufficient pressure on the problem. Opponents on the center-right were convinced that enough was being done for biodiversity and that the pressure on agriculture was too great.
