Trade association urges swift negotiations

The business umbrella organization Economiesuisse supports the early start of negotiations with the EU. With a new package of bilateral agreements, the goals of the Swiss economy could be achieved, the association announced on Friday.
From the point of view of the Swiss economy, the most important objectives include securing Switzerland's long-term participation in the EU internal market, strengthening security of supply by concluding an electricity agreement and participating in the European research program Horizon Europe.
Economiesuisse spoke out in favor of swift action. In view of the European elections in summer 2024, negotiations should begin as quickly as possible in order to avoid unnecessary delays, the business association explained.
