Truck rolls off: Driver dies in accident in Rüschlikon ZH

A 32-year-old truck driver died in an accident in Rüschlikon ZH on Thursday. He had left the driver's cab, whereupon the truck started to roll. The truck then hit a candelabra, which fell over and killed the man walking alongside the truck.
The accident occurred shortly after 12.00 noon on a road leading downhill, according to the Zurich cantonal police. The driver had previously stopped his trailer and got out of the driver's cab.
As the vehicle rolled off, the man ran alongside the vehicle and tried to get back in to stop it. In the end, the truck crashed into the candelabra. According to the police, the driver died at the scene of the accident.
Details of the course of the accident were not initially known. The police launched an investigation.
