Two paragliders crash into trees and remain uninjured

Two paragliders crashed into treetops on their approach to the landing site in Wolfenschiessen NW on Saturday. Both were rescued unharmed by specialists.
A 29-year-old female paraglider pilot took off on a flight from the Bielen paragliding site in Wolfenschiessen at 10.15 a.m., as reported by the Nidwalden cantonal police on Saturday. During the approach to the Neufallenbach landing site, she touched the cable of a material ropeway with her paraglider and lost control of her aircraft as a result.
The 29-year-old then got stuck in a treetop in a forest. A helicopter was initially called out, but it was not possible to rescue her this way. As a result, she ultimately had to be rescued from her predicament by specialists from Swiss Alpine Rescue. The rescue operation took two and a half hours. The paraglider remained unharmed.
In the afternoon, the same mishap happened to a 34-year-old German at the same location: he also touched the suspension cable of a material ropeway in the immediate vicinity of the first one during his landing approach, lost control of his paraglider and got caught in a treetop. This paraglider pilot was also able to be pulled out of the tree unharmed by Alpine Rescue specialists.
