“Wandering fatally injured in fall from wall.”

On Saturday afternoon, a 26-year-old woman was hiking in steep terrain near Herbriggen VS when she fell and suffered serious injuries. She was part of a two-person group on the European Path from Grächen to the Europahütte in Randa. The woman had left the path to pick up an object that had fallen, when she fell for unknown reasons. Rescue workers provided first aid on the spot and an Air Zermatt helicopter flew her to the Inselspital in Bern. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries on Sunday. The authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
