The money transfer service provider Western Union will reopen 14 branches of the collapsed company Small World under its own brand from the end of August. Small World had to close the branches in June due to its bankruptcy.
The locations are in all major cities in Switzerland, including Zurich, Geneva, Basel, Bern and Lugano, Western Union announced on Wednesday. The reopening will save more than 50 jobs. The reopening should be completed by September.
Small World has been in insolvency proceedings in the UK since June 18, as announced by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) at the time. The parent company LCC had already discontinued its services for new customers on June 10. The company is now in special administration.
According to an "SRF" report, the collapse also affected customers from Switzerland who had paid in money for their relatives between June 10 and 18.
