Woman who fell through railing in Brissago dies in hospital

The 74-year-old woman who fell through a railing into the lake in Brissago on Sunday has died in hospital. She suffered life-threatening head injuries and a heart attack when she fell from the lakeside promenade into Lake Maggiore.
The Ticino cantonal police announced the death of the tourist from Germany on Tuesday evening. A passer-by rescued her from the lake on Sunday and the air ambulance flew her to hospital.
It was still not known on Tuesday why the railing on the lakeside promenade gave way. The public prosecutor's office launched an investigation after the accident.
