Young GLP stops cooperation with Young SVP

The Young Green Liberals (JGLP) Switzerland are stopping their cooperation with the Young SVP (JSVP) Switzerland. The reason given is that the JSVP has recently attracted attention due to racist and inhuman statements.
The JGLP Switzerland has "no understanding and no tolerance for politics based on hatred", it said in a statement on Sunday. The Young Green Liberals expect all democratic parties to distance themselves from the JSVP Switzerland." In order to protect democracy, all democratic parties must demonstrate a minimum level of respect for their fellow human beings.
After repeatedly refusing to distance itself from neo-Nazi groups, the Young SVP is now comparing queer people with terrorists, the Young Green Liberals criticize.
The Young GLP does share the same positions as the Young SVP on certain political issues. However, non-party cooperation is only conceivable if the Junge SVP apologizes for "the racist and queer-hostile statements" and "refrains from such hate-fuelled polemics in future", according to the Junge GLP.
In April, controversy arose even within the Young SVP because of its strategy chief Sarah Regez. The reason for this was a secret meeting between Regez and the Austrian right-wing extremist Martin Sellner in May 2023, which was also attended by members of the far-right group "Junge Tat", as reported by Sonntagsblick.
