A lifeless person was rescued from the River Aare near the Röti bridge in the town of Solothurn on Sunday lunchtime. The police and the public prosecutor's office of the canton of Solothurn began an investigation into the circumstances and cause of death of the younger man.

A man reported at 11.00 a.m. that he had discovered a lifeless person in the Aare under the Röti bridge, as the cantonal police reported on Tuesday. A large police contingent was deployed and the scene was cordoned off.

With the help of police divers from the Bern cantonal police, members of the cantonal police shipping department and support from the Solothurn municipal police, the dead person was recovered from the water in the early afternoon.

The identity of the deceased is now known. However, it is unclear how the man got into the Aare. The police are looking for anyone who made observations in the Ritterquai area between 03:00 and 09:00 on Sunday.
