The Zurich public prosecutor's office has opened criminal proceedings against GLP politician Sanija Ameti: it is investigating whether the 32-year-old has disturbed freedom of religion and worship.

The GLP politician and co-president of Operation Libero fired an air pistol in a cellar last September - she pierced the catalog page of an auction house showing a picture of Mary and Jesus.

Various parties - including the Young SVP - subsequently filed criminal charges against Ameti. Following its investigations, the public prosecutor's office decided to open criminal proceedings at the end of October. The public prosecutor's office confirmed a corresponding report in the "CH Media" newspapers on Wednesday.
