Big wins for the Conservative Swiss People’s Party (SVP), and bigger losses for the two Green parties (Greens and GLP).
The National Council elections in Switzerland have concluded with the following results: 200 seats have been won by the various political parties. The Swiss People’s Party (SVP) won the most seats with 65, followed by the Social Democratic Party (SP) with 43, the Free Democratic Party (FDP) with 33, the Green Party (GPS) with 28, the Center Party (Die Mitte) with 27, the Liberal Green Party (GLP) with 15, and the Swiss Party of Labour (PdA) with 8.
The SVP, SP, FDP, GPS, Mitte, GLP, and PdA all increased their seat numbers compared to the 2015 elections, with the SVP gaining the most seats.
The SVP also won the most votes, with 29.4% of the total vote. The SP came in second with 18.8%, followed by the FDP with 16.5%, the Greens with 11.2%, the Center Party with 10.2%, the GLP with 6.2%, and the PdA with 3.4%.
