Retour au fil d'actualité

On Tuesday afternoon, a tour bus travelling on the A1 motorway in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland, caught fire. Fortunately, all 44 passengers were able to escape the vehicle unharmed. The bus, which was heading towards Payerne, caught fire in the Arrisoules tunnel, but was able to leave the tunnel and come to a stop shortly afterwards. The passengers were then taken to the Lully rest stop by the Vaud and Fribourg police, where they were picked up by the transport company in another vehicle. The bus was carrying mainly American tourists, according to Jean-Christophe Sauterel, spokesperson for the Vaud police. There were no injuries, but the vehicle was almost completely destroyed. As a result, the A1 motorway between Yverdon-les-Bains VD and Estavayer-le-Lac FR was closed in both directions for almost two hours. Diversions were set up for traffic. At around 6.45pm, one lane in the direction of Yverdon-les-Bains was reopened. The cause of the fire is still unknown. The clean-up operations have begun, but it is not yet known when the other lane will be reopened.nnnnnnnnnn
