Swiss Airlines had a mixed performance during the summer holidays of 2020. Despite managing to fly almost all of their planned flights, difficult weather conditions and airspace restrictions caused delays and cancellations. According to their own figures, Swiss Airlines managed to fly 98.9% of their planned flights from July 15th to August 15th, with more than half of those flights (48%) departing late. The airline's operational chief, Oliver Buchhofer, admitted that they had not met their own standards of punctuality. Weather was a major factor, with storms on July 24th causing multiple cancellations in order to prevent further delays the following day. Other external factors such as a lack of air traffic controllers in some European countries also had an impact. Swiss Airlines are already taking steps to improve their performance for the summer of 2024, and are in close contact with their partners.nnnnnnnnnn
