Rega Finds Missing Woman in Graubünden with Thermal Imaging Camera

The Rega rescue service was able to locate and rescue a 68-year-old German hiker who had gone missing in the mountains of Graubünden, Switzerland, in the early hours of Saturday morning. The Swiss Cantonal Police had alerted the Rega after the woman had failed to return to her hotel. The Rega search helicopter was able to locate the woman's mobile phone, and then used a thermal imaging camera to find her. She was then rescued by a second Rega helicopter and taken to hospital. The Rega search helicopter is based in Wilderswil BE and is equipped with a device that can locate mobile phones even when there is no reception in the search area. This system is only used in cooperation with the Federal Police (Fedpol). The woman was found in the Val da Pia in a confused and dehydrated state, but otherwise unharmed.nnnnnnnnnn
