The Zurich State Prosecutor has brought charges against the former director of Waste and Recycling Zurich (ERZ). Urs Pauli must answer for multiple breaches of trust and other offenses, according to the Supreme Prosecutor's Office. The former city official is accused of maintaining a "black" cash register and granting himself and other executives unauthorized use of service vehicles. The indictment calls for a conditional prison sentence of 24 months and an unconditional fine of 180 daily rates. Pauli is said to be confessing, according to the Supreme Prosecutor's Office's statement on Wednesday. Since 2015, numerous irregularities have come to light at the city's waste disposal companies ERZ. An external investigation revealed that ERZ had its own "parallel world with its own rules". Pauli indulged in an expensive service car, the employees had a fitness center, lavish Christmas parties and a facility with wild birds and emus. Another executive kept income from the sale of retired machines in cash in a safe.nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
