Missing FDP District Commissioner Found Dead in Lake Lucerne

Remigi Zumbühl, the FDP Landrat who had been missing since August 26th in Wolfenschiessen NW, was found dead in the Vierwaldstättersee near Buochs NW on Wednesday. The exact cause of death is yet to be determined. Last week, the search was expanded to the mouth of the Engelbergeraa in the Vierwaldstättersee in the Aawasseregg area in Buochs. With the help of divers from the Lucerne Police and the Schwyz Cantonal Police, the nearby shore areas were searched. This week, the Zurich Cantonal Police supported the search with their camera boat in the depths of the lake and on the lake bed, where they discovered the person. They were recovered with the help of divers from the Lucerne Police. The exact cause of death is yet to be determined and will be investigated by the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Zurich on behalf of the Nidwalden Public Prosecutor's Office. At present, there are no indications of third-party involvement. In addition to the Nidwalden Cantonal Police, the Zurich and Schwyz Cantonal Police, the Lucerne Police, the fire brigades of the municipalities of Wolfenschiessen, Dallenwil, Oberdorf and Buochs-Ennetbürgen, the Alpine Rescue Station Stans, the Rescue Air Force and the Army were also involved in the search.
