The Swiss Parliament is looking for ways to reduce the administrative burden on businesses. The proposed Unternehmensentlastungsgesetz would require the federal administration to estimate the costs that new regulations would impose on companies. The Ständerat has already approved the proposal and the Nationalrat has now followed suit, with 137 votes in favour and 36 against. The majority of the bürgerliche faction found that the law would reduce regulatory costs, while the SP opposed it with emotional arguments. The Nationalrat is now discussing the details of the proposal. This law is intended to reduce the administrative burden on businesses by making the costs of regulations more transparent and by requiring the federal administration to estimate the costs of new regulations.
