The Swiss Parliament has rejected the initiative "For Freedom and Physical Integrity (Stop Vaccination Requirement)" without a counterproposal. Both the National Council and the Council of States have given the popular petition from vaccine skeptics a rejection. The National Council had already recommended the initiative for rejection in May. The initiative wants to stipulate in the Federal Constitution that interventions in the physical or mental integrity of a person require their consent and that those who refuse this consent must not be punished or suffer professional or social disadvantages. The Federal Council and the majority of both councils argued that the demand goes far beyond the question of vaccination and would lead to great legal uncertainty, for example with regard to criminal enforcement. Nobody may be vaccinated against their will today. In summary, the Swiss Parliament has rejected the initiative to make it a constitutional right to refuse vaccinations without suffering any consequences, due to the potential legal uncertainty it could cause.
