Tamedia, a Swiss media company, has announced a job cut in its German-speaking media outlets. Up to 20 positions are to be cut, in addition to the 28 positions already announced for the French-speaking region on Wednesday. The company informed its employees of the plans on Thursday morning, and will announce the exact number and locations of the job cuts in the coming weeks. The job cuts are part of a cost-saving package of 6 million Swiss francs, with 3.5 million francs allocated to the French-speaking region and 2.5 million francs to the German-speaking region. The cuts are due to the ongoing decline in print product sales. The unions Impressum and Syndicom have criticised the cost-saving package, which follows a comprehensive package of cuts in the past three years, amounting to 70 million francs.
