The Swiss government was invited to an international meeting organised by the Spanish EU presidency to discuss the future of work. The meeting was held in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, and was attended by the head of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), Boris Zürcher. At the event, Zürcher participated in a panel discussion on artificial intelligence, algorithms and work, emphasising the importance of human-centred frameworks to use AI and robotics to the benefit of the Swiss labour market. The talks focused on three main topics: democracy in the workplace, the connection between AI, algorithms and work, and green collective bargaining. Zürcher's visit was at the invitation of Spanish Vice President and Minister of Labour and Social Economy Yolanda Díaz Pérez. The meeting was held on Thursday and Friday and was an important step in the Swiss government's efforts to ensure that the country's labour market is prepared for the future.
