The Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has emphasised the need for Swiss support for Kosovo in order to become a member of the Council of Europe. He stated that the country needs friends who can accurately represent them in the geopolitical context, as the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) do not recognise Kosovo. After a meeting with the Swiss President Alain Berset, Kurti expressed his appreciation for the Swiss support in the process of normalisation between Kosovo and Serbia. However, two days after the meeting, there was a violent attack on the Kosovo police in the Serbian-inhabited north of Kosovo. The Swiss Department of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the attack and called for calm and restraint. Those responsible for the violence must be held accountable. In summary, the Kosovo Prime Minister has emphasised the need for Swiss support in order to become a member of the Council of Europe, and the Swiss President has expressed his support for the process of normalisation between Kosovo and Serbia.
